IMPACT Testing will take place for student athletes during Registration on August 6th from 1 to 5 PM
Tri-Center High School is working with Jennie Ed Sports Med to implement an innovative concussion management program called ImPACT for T-C student-athletes. ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is a computerized exam utilized in many professional, collegiate, and high school sports programs across the country to successfully diagnose and manage concussions. If an athlete is believed to have suffered a head injury during competition, ImPACT is used to help determine the severity of the head injury and when the injury is fully healed. The computerized exam is given to athletes before practices or competitions begin to establish baseline data. We will be administering the baseline test at the following time in the Family and Consumer Science room: August 6th 1:00-5:00 The non-invasive test is set up in “video-game” format and takes about 30 minutes to complete. Essentially, the ImPACT test is a preseason physical for the brain. It tracks information such as memory, reaction time, and concentration. It is not an IQ test. All test information is confidential and will be stored in a secured computer file. There is no cost to the parents/guardians for their child’s baseline test. Students are tested every other year so those tested during the 2017-2018 school year do NOT need to be tested this year. Students must bring a signed consent form in order to be tested. Please contact Cassie Harris at charris@tctrojans.org with questions. |
