Jarrett to be honored as WIC Legend at Missouri Valley track meet May 1st
On Tuesday, May 1st Tri-Center's Dennis Jarrett will be honored as a WIC Legend for his work in building in the TC Cross Country program. Coach Jarrett will be honored during the WIC track meet at Missouri Valley. Dennis Jarrett has been the head middle school high school Boy’s & Girl’s cross country coach for the past 11 years at Tri-Center. After the 2017 season, he put away his running shoes and retired from coaching. He has been teaching at Tri-Center for 30 years and will continue teaching middle school history. During his 11 year tenure, Dennis built the program from 13 runners in 2007 to 48 runners last season. He accomplished this by making strong connections with each of the runners. Dennis had a talent for developing challenging but fun workouts. He was able to get his runners to peak at all the right times during the season. He ran almost every workout with his runners. Along the trail, he talked with them about their progress, their academics, and other life skills. He and his wife, Holly, (his assistant coach) created a family environment for the cross country team. Many lasting traditions and friendships were formed. Dennis’ coaching accomplishments include:
Dennis’ Awards and Honors:
Dennis credits his wife, Holly, for a lot of his coaching success. She took care of the “behind the scene” things that sometimes go unnoticed. The Jarretts have 5 adult children and are looking forward to spending time with family, camping, and traveling during the fall season. They are TC, XC fans for life! |
