Special Olympics State competition results
The Special Olympics team finished their season at State Competition on May 17, 18, and 19th. Elijah Bearley and Kaleigh Gillespie won gold medals in bocce skills; Cole Osbahr won a silver medal in bocce skills. Elijah Bearley place fourth in the softball throw but his throw of 19.8 meters was a personal record! Joslyn Punteney won a gold medal in the 200-meter race and Kaleigh Gillespie won a silver medal in the 400-meter race. |
TC Special Olympics to compete in Track and Field, Bocce Skills
On Thursday, May 17, the Special Olympic Team including Cole Osbahr, Elijah Bearley, and Kaleigh Gillespie are in Ames competing in Bocce Skills. On Friday afternoon Elijah will compete in the softball throw. On Saturday morning Kaleigh will run the 400-meter race and Joslyn Punteney will run the 200. |
TC Special Olympic athletes advance to state
The Special Olympic Team competed in track events at IWCC on Thursday, April 13. Elijah Bearley qualified to compete at state in the 800 m walk race, bocce, and the softball throw. Joslyn Punteney qualified to compete at state in the 200 m dash and bocce. Kaleigh Gillespie qualified to compete at state in the 400 m dash and bocce. Miles Lee qualified to compete at state in the 100 m dash and bocce. Cole Osbahr qualified to compete at state in bocce. State Track meet is in Ames on May 17, 18, and 19. |
TC Special Olympics brings home medals from Iowa City
On Saturday, March 10, the Special Olympic team was in Iowa City to compete in powerlifting and basketball skills. Elijah Bearley came home with 2 gold medals - deadlift and bench press. Elijah had a personal best in the deadlift with 160 pounds. Kaleigh Gillespie also came home with 2 gold medals - deadlift and bench press. Kaleigh had a personal best in the deadlift with 105 pounds. Cole Osbahr came home with a bronze medal in basketball skills. The team represented TC with pride! |
TC Special Olympics athletes to compete in basketball and powerlifting at State on March 10th
Members of the Special Olympic are headed to Iowa City on Saturday, March 10th to compete in State events for basketball and powerlifting. Cole Osbahr will be competing in basketball skills. Elijah Bearley and Kaleigh Gillespie will be competing in powerlifting - bench press and deadlift. Wish them the best of luck when you see them around the school and the community. They have been working hard to get to state competition! |
Basketball skills results
On Tuesday, January 9th, the Special Olympic Team competed in basketball skills at Iowa Western Community College. Results: Cole Osbahr 1st place, Joslyn Punteney 2nd place, Kaleigh Gillespie 3rd place, Elijah Bearley 4th place, and Miles Lee 5th place. State Basketball competition and State Weightlifting competition is in Iowa City on March 9 and 10th. Cole can compete in either basketball or weight lifting at state. Elijah and Kaleigh will be competing in weightlifting. |

TC athletes perform well at State Bowling
On Saturday the Special Olympic team competed for state bowling at Thunderbowl in Council Bluffs. Miles Lee and Kaleigh Gillespie came home with a gold medal. Cole Osbahr placed sixth. The team represented Tri-Center with pride! Miles Lee got the first strike of his career during his championship game. |
TC athletes participate in summer games
On May 25th and 26th, the Tri-Center Special Olympic team traveled to Ames to compete in summer games. Elijah Bearley - 1st place gold medal in 800 M walk race and 4th place in softball throw Matthew Killpack - 3rd place bronze medal in shot put and 5th place in 800 M race Joslyn Punteney - 1st place gold medal in softball throw Kaleigh Gillespie - 1st place gold medal in bocce Cole Osbahr - 2nd place silver medal in bocce The team is coached by Julie Theulen, Cindy Sibert, Linnea Handbury, and Amanda Guill.
