Mrs. Georgiann Andersen has been named a Code Iowa Winner and has been awarded a grant to purchase items to help teach  STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in the classroom.  You can see the information in the SWICC Southwest Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council newsletter below and in the image linked.  Mrs. Andersen will use the grant to purchase additional devices to use in the classroom to be used by students to learn STEM concepts in coding, robotics, and 3D modeling.  Congratulations Mrs. Andersen!

Congratulations to Georgiann Andersen of Tri-Center Middle School at Neola for her award in celebration of Computer Science week. The awards given in each of the six STEM Regions were sponsored by Google and Verizon.

Her students were very pleased and helped celebrate the announcement.

Code.org had many new options for programs to select from and the students were very engaged in their classroom activities.
Andersen plans to purchase materials which tie algebra and coding together. She noted in her application that this "will answer the middle school math question often asked by students--will I ever use this again--"

Congratulations to Tri Center MS and Georgiann Andersen!
