Elementary News: Prevent the Summer "Brain Drain"; Trojan Literacy Camps for students entering grades K-6

The Tri-Center Junior Class is sponsoring three Trojan Literacy Camps for students entering grades K-6.  

Camp dates, times & locations:
Tuesday, June 9 (9:30-11:30) at the NACC
Friday, June 26 (9:30-11:30) at the NACC
Tuesday, July 7 (9:30-11:30) at the NACC
Tuesday, July 14 (9:30-11:30) at the Minden United Church of Christ
Tuesday, July 28 (6:30-8:00 PM) at the Minden United Church of Christ
Tuesday, August 4 (9:30-11:30) at the NACC

Camp Features:
  • Guest Readers
  • Whole group, small group, and individual activities
  • A different theme for each camp session:
    • Nature, Ocean/Water, Outer Space, Sports,
    • Animals, and Transportation
  • Literacy stations designed to incorporate The Daily Five: read to self, read to someone, work
  • on writing, listen to reading, & word work/spelling for younger participants.
  • Literacy activities for older participants will incorporate: 
    • comprehension, reading accuracy & fluency, and as well as activities to expand vocabulary and writing.

Option 1: You may purchase a 6 punch “Punch Card” for $50. This card may be used individually
or for a family. The punch cards will be kept at each camp location.

Option 2: Camp sessions will be $10.00 per participant for each session attending.
