Today we were deeply saddened to notify all students of the death of one of their own. Gage Williams died last night in a car accident. He was a freshman at Tri-Center Schools. Our school family is holding his family close in thought at this most difficult time. We are unaware of funeral arrangements at this time but will pass any information we receive along as it becomes available. We notified the students about his death and answered any questions that they had as well. We have additional Green Hills AEA staff on site in order to support students and district staff as needed. We suggest you talk with your child about this loss and respond to any questions that arise. Here are some tips for talking with your student:
It is important to remember that grief reactions vary greatly among individuals. To aid in the support of your child/children, attached are resources that address helping children of all ages understand death, as well as a recommended website that includes guidance regarding grief and support for children and youth. Please do not hesitate to contact the schools with questions or concerns. We are committed to assisting our school community during this time of loss and appreciate your ongoing support. Sincerely, Tony Weers Superintendent |
